Blue: Sentenced dog kidnapped, supporters cheer

The Oregon Albany Pet Hotel staff says that someone climbed a fence, broke a window and stole Blue, a breed called a blue lacy, who was there awaiting for a decision on his fate to live or die.

Blue was in the middle of a legal battle since last December.  He was accused of biting a toddler when the little boy stuck his face in the dog food bowl that Blue was eating out of in September 2010.  

Blue was sentenced to death, but Blue's owner, Richard Raymond filed a lawsuit to block the sentence.

Many of Albany's citizens have supported Blue and thousands had signed a petition to change the city's dangerous dog ordinance.   Some even putting up posters asking "Please Don't Murder Blue."

A meeting by a committee to change the dog ordinance had met on Monday and the final meeting was scheduled for November with the city council meeting to be on November 7, to discuss the revised city ordinance and put it up for vote on November 9.

I guess someone decided that Blue had waited long enough, and "sprung" him before the decision was made.

The police have alerted harbor police to keep an eye out for anyone trying to fly or sail away with a dog.

City Councilor Dick Olsen, spoke for many when he heard that a dognapper had taken Blue.  He said, "Bless their hearts."
